Sigh... I thought I wasn't going to post anything today as I was not really liking the symbol for the thief. Alas, I finally came up with something I liked after experimenting with ideas such a loot bags, diamond symbols, and whatnot.
There isn't much to add, other than tomorrow I will resume working on the UI. Next week's post will be about unveiling the Psycaster classes. Do let me know if you have any questions regarding the functionality of these classes - I really need to start working on the Encyclopedia. So much to do, so little time...
Stay safe!
[EDIT]
Outcast's description modified. Thanks for the heads-up Moorkh!
Good job on the icons, again! As someone who usually picks Thief in any game where that's an option - I approve of that one in particular. It has a little bit more stylization than the others, with overlapping lines and volume.
ReplyDeleteIf there's anything I could suggest about this set is that the Assassin's icon isn't as clear in small scale. I tried to "insert" the dagger through the skull, which clarifies the latter be showing the nose. Also stylized the skull a little bit for fun :)
Do the specialization perks stack on top the class's perk?
Thanks. I've tried several approaches for the Assassin, the dagger went through; had the color scheme inverted; tried difference dagger sizes but they all lack visibility. I'm still not 100% with it as it reminds me of the Punisher symbol. I will probably end up changing the skull's eyes.
ReplyDelete> "Do the specialization perks stack on top the class's perk?"
Yes, I mentioned that in one of my previous answers. The main advantage of unlocking specialization classes is exactly to gain access to their perks.
Nice. Rogues have always been my favourites. What do you envision their role in combat to be?
ReplyDeleteQuick nitpick: How can Outcast be an optional specialisation when the text says they are descendants of a certain people and trained from birth for this?
>"Rogues have always been my favorites. What do you envision their role in combat to be?"
ReplyDeleteInteresting that you both love the Rogue class. The playstyle of any playable character is dictated by their skills with perks emphasizing specific factors. The rogue tends to favor ranged combat, agility, and critical damage while being protected in light armor. Through the Acrobatics skill, they can boost the available action points per turn, allowing them, in theory, to attack more often.
>"Quick nitpick: How can Outcast be an optional specialization when the text says they are descendants of a certain people and trained from birth for this?"
They are called outcasts in the name of their ancestors. The journey they are forced to endure being temporarily outcasted is a celebration of their origins. If you wish to unlock the Outcast specialization, you will need to join the Rogue's guild. There, you will find Outcasts who decided to make of living by teaching their knowledge instead of returning home.
I better change the description of the outcast and leave their origins description for in-game lore. Good call!

ReplyDeleteRogue allows safe combat from distance with bows, and Thief makes combat non-confrontational or unnecessary altogether, which is even safer. Plus, it gives access to all those locked-away goodies :D
True! I also tend to favor bow, however, I'm usually the utilitarian guy in co-op. The guy who crafts, heals and buffs. :D
DeleteA welcome addition to any party! :D
