I've concluded the first template entry for the encyclopedia regarding the playable classes. You finally get to learn more about the Warrior's perks. During the next week, I will create another entry for the rogue classes - there are still some aspects I need to consider for their perks and they will probably end up being different from what I originally described.
Apart from putting some effort into the encyclopedia, I've continued with the integration of the new characters' generator UI. It's about 75% done at this point and it has suffered some unscripted improvements. Also, the cooking skill has been replaced with camping.

Yay, news!
ReplyDeleteBrowsing the encyclopedia, many new things to see. :)
Looking at those class perks, some questions:
- What is the "hit score"?
- What are damage levels?
- +2 to an ability seems like an awful lot - and essentially, this makes heroic strength (7) for a warrior actually less useful since the +2 would raise that to 9 which is probably not a valid number in your system.
- Fate attribute, on the other hand, seems a bit weak when each point in it (in the case of the Titan perk) only raises stats by 1%.
- There should be a perk called "Fortify" for the basic Warrior class according to your news post, but it's not mentioned in the encyclopedia.
- I'm still horribly annoyed some of your nomenclature! ;)
Steady progress here. Looking forward to seeing some of it implemented in your prototype!
- The Hit Score is basically the resulting score after rolling the attack vs defense. The formulate is still being designed.
ReplyDelete- You can see more about damage levels here (last response):

- As mentioned, the +2 strength bonus is for carrying shields only.
- The fate attribute plays a major role in leveling up system, which is already available in the encyclopedia. But I agree, it should weigh more in the Titan perk. Perhaps I will lower Titan's perk base bonus while increasing the fate bonus or simply increase the fate bonus. I think 2% per point is more interesting.
- Ahh yes. The fortify perk is definitely missing; I will need to add it.
Let me know what nomenclatures I could use instead. Nothing is in stone yet. These names are acting more like placeholders than anything else. :)
Looking good!
ReplyDeleteCreating this encyclopedia at this stage will help you formalize things better as well as cut out the work of presenting information to players later on.
Incidentally, I dropped you a mail just a couple of days ago about a tool for creating such wikis.
@shoTgun, absolutely! And it will speed up inputting information on the game itself since it will be ready for copying and pasting.
ReplyDeleteI didn't receive a mail from you. Can you give me it's the day and time?
Send to your hotmail account on Sat, Jul 17, 12:43 PM (2 days ago)
ReplyDeleteCan't find any e-mail from you on that date :/
ReplyDeleteI'll just copy-pasta then :)
ReplyDeleteI recently found a tool which I thought you might be interested in.
It's called Arcweave and if you like mapping your ideas (and I think you do ;) then this is highly recommended!
Originally, I just wanted to make flowcharts, but Arcweave supports referrals to charts or components outside the one you're working on, essentially creating a sort of Wikipedia.
It also has a good UI and a bunch of extra features for free.
I've seen a few tools like this one before, but this one seems to eclipse them all.
ReplyDeleteThanks a bunch for sharing it. :)
Honestly, I've been looking for a tool like this for years. I wanted to make one for a place where I worked once (and potentially even sell it as a product), because nothing out there came close. hey would either lack features or have a convoluted UI. Someone finally did it :D
ReplyDeleteIndeed! It's super easy to use!
ReplyDeleteAnother great tool I came across, somewhat related: https://www.wordtune.com/
ReplyDeleteIt rewrites sentences, offering a variety of options for different tones, synonyms and grammar. Surprisingly, it's able to handle complex paragraphs as well.
Wow! I just tried this one and immediately replaced it with Grammarly. Grammarly is nice but I have to pay to access more advanced features that WordTune offers me for free.
ReplyDeleteOh man, thanks a lot for sharing it!
Yup! the algorithm is great. The main page "runs out" of uses, eventually, and you're sent to the Editor. There, I couldn't find a way to rewrite paragraphs as a whole, like on the main page. Instead, they get written into separate sentences :\
ReplyDeleteThis issue doesn't seem like a service provided in their subscription plan either so I haven't tried it. I did wrote them feedback about it, though. Meanwhile, the main page can be used further with private browsing :)
I see. Thanks for mentioning it.
